This tomato sauce recipe is perfect for homemade pizza, spaghetti squash, or zoodles!
I’m seriously obsessed with this sauce. Not only is it way more flavorful than anything you’re going to buy pre-made in a can, but it is super versatile. I use it for pizza, pasta, toss mixed veggies in it, and even use it as a base/thickener for stews. It’s. So. Good.
I like mine a little on the spicy side. If that’s not your jam, simply remove the crushed red pepper flakes from this recipe. And, if you don’t have avocado oil, a high-quality olive oil will do the trick!
This makes enough sauce for one 14 inch pizza.
- 1 4 oz can tomato paste
- 2 Tbsp avocado oil
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tbsp sweet leaf basil
- 2 tsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Add avocado oil to a warm skillet (low-medium heat).
- Add tomato paste. Mix oil into tomato paste as it heats. If you want to thin the sauce here, I recommend adding an additional tbsp of avocado oil.
- Add remaining spices, stir, and enjoy!
If you want to turn this into a meat sauce, simply add some browned meat.
I hope you’ll get creative with this, and that you’ll come back and let me know what you used this sauce for!
I’m sure whatever it was, it was delicious.
