I believe that our individuality holds the key when it comes to healing. We cannot expect one single diet, one food, one medication, or a specific line of nutritional supplements to work for every person. We’re just too complex! We have to embrace our uniqueness in order to heal from the inside out.
I use functional lab testing in my practice so that we can identify and work with your body’s unique needs. There are many imbalances that can lead to inflammation and autoimmunity. We have to identify yours. There are many food sensitivities that can contribute to the problem, and instead of making you restrict your diet down to almost nothing, let’s take the guesswork out of it and test so we know what your triggers are (they might surprise you!).
Imbalances in the gut are directly related to inflammation. By temporarily removing inflammatory foods and healing the underlying imbalances in your digestive system, we remove the roadblocks that are preventing your body from healing itself.
Your body is wonderfully wise. Using whole foods and this targeted approach to healing your body’s number one priority (your gut) is simply the most straightforward way to give your body what it needs to heal. This unique process will improve your symptoms, reduce pain & inflammation, and allow you to be you again.
My Pillars for Health
I am a food first practitioner. Your wellness depends on giving your body all the right building blocks it needs from nutrient dense whole food to create health on the most basic level.
Today, many of us are very disconnected from our body’s needs. We fight against our bodies in order to “fix” them. I believe we need to reconnect, see symptoms as a form of communication, and work with your body in order to remedy your symptoms.
Stress enters our lives in many ways. And, all stressors stand in the way of your body’s ability to mend itself. Some stressors we can remove, and for those we can’t, we can support your body’s ability to be resilient despite them.

What is a Functional Nutritionist?
A Functional Nutritionist is one who works to identify the root causes of your symptoms and uses food and lifestyle interventions to support your body’s natural ability to heal. Every symptom is a cue from your body that things are out of balance and deserves to be heard & acknowledged.
How is it different?
Functional nutrition works from a biological perspective. Understanding how the body works, taking into account your personal story, symptoms, and lab tests, and using that information to create a unique plan for you. No cookie-cutters, here!
What do I need to do for a 1:1 Nutriton Consultation?
Once you register for a consultation, you will recieve 3 intake forms to be completed AT LEAST 72 business hours prior to our scheduled meeting. These documents provide the information I need to start creating your unique plan! During this consultation we will determine if functional lab testing is right for you.
What lab tests do you use?
I use a wide variety of lab tests depending on the clients symptoms. We can assess everything from gut health to hormones. But, I almost always start with a GI MAP and MRT Food Sensitivity Test. The GI MAP measures the DNA of your gastrointestinal bacteria and tells us exactly where the imbalances are. The MRT test measures blood levels of inflammation in response to 170 different foods.
Where did you complete your training?
I obtained my Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. I am a certified Nutritonal Therapy Practitioner through the Nutritional Therapy Association and recieved my Restorative Wellness Practitioner certificate from Restorative Wellness Solutions.
